The earliest evidence of glazed bricks is the discovery of glazed bricks in the Elamite temple of Choga Zanbil from the 13th century BC. Glazed and colored bricks were used to create low reliefs in ancient Mesopotamia, most famously the Ishtar Gate of Babylon (ca. 575 BC), now partially reconstructed in Berlin, with parts elsewhere. Mesopotamian craftsmen were imported for the palaces of the Persian Empire such as Persepolis.Tiles mistri in chittagong.
The use of sun-dried brick or adobe was the main method of construction in Mesopotamia where river mud was abundant along the Tigris and Euphrates. The scarcity of stone here may have been an incentive to develop kiln-fired brickmaking technology to use as an alternative. To strengthen walls made of sun-dried brick, fired bricks began to be used as an external protective skin for more important buildings such as temples, palaces, city walls and gates. Brickmaking is an advanced pottery technique. Fired bricks are solid masses of clay heated in a kiln to temperatures between 950° and 1,150°C and a well-made brick is a highly durable object. Like sun-dried bricks, they were made in wooden molds but special molds had to be made for bricks with relief decoration.
Ancient Indian Subcontinent
Rooms with clay tiled floors decorated with geometric circular patterns have been discovered from ancient ruins at Kalibangan, Balakot and Ahladino.[2][3]
In the 2nd century, the Sinhalese kings of ancient Sri Lanka used tiling, using smooth and polished stones laid on floors and in swimming pools. Historians consider the techniques and tools of tiling to be advanced, as evidenced by the fine craftsmanship and close fit of the tiles. .
Ancient Iran

The Achaemenid Empire decorated buildings with glazed brick tiles, including the palace of Darius the Great at Susa and the buildings at Persepolis.
The later Sassanid Empire used tiles with geometric designs, flowers, plants, birds and human figures, glazed up to one centimeter thick.
Islamic
Shah Mosque in Isfahan, Iran
Early Islamic mosaics in Iran consist mainly of geometric decorations in mosques and tombs, made of glazed bricks. Plain, turquoise, tiling became popular in the 10th–11th centuries and was mostly used for Kufic inscriptions on mosque walls. The Sayyid Mosque in Isfahan (1122 AD), the Marakeh Dome (1147 AD) and the Jame Mosque in Gonabad (1212 AD) are among the finest examples. The dome of the Jame Atiq Mosque in Qazvin also dates from this period.

17th-century Delft blue and white tile with sea monsters
Delftware wall tiles, usually with a painted design covering just one (of course small) blue and white tile, were ubiquitous in Holland and were widely exported to northern Europe from the 16th century, replacing much local art. Several 18th-century royal palaces had porcelain rooms with walls entirely covered in tiles or panels of porcelain. Surviving examples include those at Capodimonte, Naples, the Royal Palace of Madrid, and the nearby Royal Palace of Aranjuez.

Modern Europe
The Victorian era saw a great revival of tilework, largely as part of the Gothic Revival, but also the Arts and Crafts movement. Patterned tiles, or pattern-making tiles, were now widely produced by machine and were reliably even and cheap to produce for floors, particularly for churches, schools and public buildings, but also for domestic hallways and bathrooms. Solid encaustic tile was used for many uses. Wall tiles in various styles also experienced a revival; the rise of the bathroom contributed to this, as did a greater appreciation of the benefits of hygiene in the kitchen. William de Morgan was a leading English designer who worked in tiles, strongly influenced by Islamic design.
Tiles have been the standard for kitchens and bathrooms, and many types of public areas since the Victorian period.

Roof tiles are primarily designed to keep out rain and heat and are traditionally made from locally available materials such as clay, granite, terracotta or slate. Modern materials such as concrete, glass and plastic are also used, and some clay tiles have a waterproof glaze. A large number of shapes (or "profiles") of roof tiles have been developed, such as flat tiles, pantiles which have an 'S' shape, and Roman tiles with alternating flat and curved sections.

Cracked tile floors
These are usually made of ceramic or stone, although recent technological advances have also led to the creation of rubber or glass tiles for floors. Ceramic tiles can be painted and glazed. Small mosaic tiles can be laid in a variety of patterns. Floor tiles are usually set in mortar consisting of sand, cement and often a latex additive. The spaces between the tiles are usually filled with sanded or unsanded floor grout, but mortar was traditionally used.
Natural stone tiles can be beautiful, but as a natural product they are less uniform in color and pattern, and require more planning for use and installation. Mass-produced stone tiles are uniform in width and length. Granite or marble tiles are sawn on both sides and then polished or finished on the top surface so that they have a uniform thickness. Other natural stone tiles such as slate are usually "riven" (split) on the top surface so that the thickness of the tile varies slightly from one place on the tile to another and from one tile to the next. Variations in tile thickness can be managed by adjusting the amount of mortar under each section of the tile, using wide grout lines that "ramp" between different thicknesses, or using a cold chisel to knock down high spots.
Some stone tiles such as polished granite, marble, and travertine become very slippery when wet. Stone tiles with a ribbed (split) surface, such as slate or sawn and then sandblasted or honed, will be more slip-resistant. Ceramic tiles for use in wet areas can be made more slip-resistant either by using very small tiles so that the grout lines act as grooves or by imprinting a contour pattern on the face of the tile.
The hardness of natural stone tiles varies in such a way that some softer stone (such as limestone) tiles are not suitable for very heavy-traffic floor areas. On the other hand, ceramic tiles usually have a glossy top surface and when it gets scratched or pitted, the floor looks worn, whereas natural stone tiles show the same amount of wear.Tiles mistri in chittagong.
